Harriers out in force at the Sodbury Slog

There was a real feast of off-road running this weekend, with the Ashton Court MT 10k, the Gwent League at Bath and the infamous Sodbury Slog at Chipping Sodbury. The Harriers had 15 runners out in the slog, which given the competition was no mean feat.

Leading the way was the rapidly improving David Whalan who ran 1.06.05 for 35th place! Then it was David George in 1.07.58 (54th place), Shona Mackie 1.11.32 (107th place and 8th lady!). Then we had Alex Miller in 1.12.43, Michael Hagan 1.16.40, Andy Schwartz 1.18.20, Graham Bazley 1.22.36, Paul Smith 1.28.58, Jane Goodwin 1.31.39, Sarah Tucker 1.32.02, Michael Cullum 1.35.16, Simon Farrell 1.37.24, Kin Cheung 1.44.28, Julian Pyrke 1.47.22 and David Taylor 1.56.10.

There were 998 finishers in total - well done to you all!!!

Terry, Glover and Mackie shine at the Trail Running championships!

News in from Marlborough where the UK:A's trail running 20m championships held as part of the Marlborough Challenge. John Terry stormed home in 2nd place in 2.11.12, behind former winner Paul Jegou of White Horse Harriers who ran 2.09.21. For Terry that represented an improvement of some 16 minutes over his debut in the event two years ago. Not far behind, Anthony Glover finished 6th (and 3rd senior male) in 2.17.07. For the ladies Shona Mackie finished in 2.44.16 for 8th place and 2nd senior lady.

Then it came to awarding the trail running medals and due to the various age categories all of our runners received awards! John Terry won the gold medal in the Senior Male category, Anthony Glover was 2nd in the V.35 class, behind overall race winner Paul Jegou and Shona Mackie took 2nd place in the Senior Female category!
