Glastonbury "Round the Tor" 10k

A bank holiday weekend, so of course the weather was dreadful. Fortunately the heavy rain abated just prior to the 11.40 start time for the 29th Glastonbury Road Run. With cash prizes for winning and for setting a new course record, the race attracted some of the quick boys and girls out. Indeed, both mens and ladies course records were broken. In the ladies race, our own Debbie Marsden set a new PB and took over a minute off the course record, running 36.12!

Despite being a club championship event, and with lots of cash on offer, it failed to attract a big turn out from Westbury with just 8 Harriers on display. Gregg Ward was first home, just breaking the 36 minute barrier on a testing course. John Terry ran 36.36 and Jullian Bailey-Gard Jnr also broke 40 minutes. Next home was the Snr version of the Jullian Bailey-Gard variety, with Roger Long, just holding off Richard Hughes. Sandra Bailey-Gard was the final Harrier home.
